Respray Review - TL;DR Poor Job

Recommended Posts

Did my respray with one of the site sponsor here.

The cost wasn't cheap (i.e. market-rate) but I went ahead because hey, support the sponsors right?

When it was done, I took a cab down to Kaki Bukit. When I saw the car, I was a little disappointed.

The paint looked misty and I questioned the young owner. He assured it was fine after I polished it a few times.

I believed him and headed to several Paint Protection shops and they all said the same thing:

"Where did you do the respray? The lacquer doesn't look so good and ..." [implied cheap along the way]

Worst yet, when I went to do servicing and even the workshop guy said the same thing.

That was an expensive $2,000 lesson and a fair warning to the rest of the guys looking to do a respray with them.

2000? That so expensive ...But usually when u do respray they do comes with 6months warranty or so

The world Most dangerous thing is the Vehicle. Its not about the machine weather its slow or fast. Its the person who is controlling it. The driver is the brain of the Machine. Not the machine itself.

If the driver reacts slow even the most powerful ABS(Auto braking system) will not help. The driver has to give the car the command in Order for the car to react. Afterall he is the brain of the car.

Sorry to hear that..

Last time it happened to my W124 too. Think must be a rushed job.

Go back the painter n ask them to polish it. Paint protection center polishing is different from paint shop. Try to go back soon before the lacquer harden further which make polishing more difficult.

If the base paint job is not up the mark there is no point of repeating the polishing efforts. Complete respray will be needed. I had a bad experience from a paint shop located in Ubi. Went back to repray twice and still sucks!

I've been to a paint shop three times to rectify large 50 cent coin bubbles on my paint work but still no help. I just gave up. My previous ride...

2K for a single coat or change colour? If it is the latter, then I say it is average to cheap range.

When there are cheap paint jobs, they skim on the quality of the lacquer. That is why I only go to my regular paint shop. I cannot afford Ah Long but at least Lim Yew Boo does a decent job.

It was 3K + for a full colour change. Cheers.

Lim Yew Boo at Sin Ming is really good. The Lambos, Ferraris, RR & Bentleys seen worked at his shop is a testament to his high quality work. His prices are reasonable too....and I still feel paiseh to drive my humble cars there everytime.
