Start up problem

Hi Bros,

My c180 is 4.5years old. Regular servicing at cnc.

I had 2 instances over last 1 year had problem starting up car.

No sound and engine don't crank when turning ignition key.

After waiting 5-10 mins n retry it started. I doubt it's the battery as both instances did not occur early morning, but during midday.

Anyone had this before / know what's the cause, I have not brought this up with cnc during last servicing.

Thanks

Most probably starter motor or fuel pump.

My dad's mazda had the same issue when turning the key, no power no indication just got no electronics. Happens randomly and the diagnosis was starter motor going bad.

Just an update in case it happen to any W204 owner.

It happened again over Sun morning. Nothing happened when key turned.

Called Star Assist, checked and confirmed not battery.

Car towed in C&C. Got call on Mon am and told it was Steering Lock fault and need replacement.

Told the Svc Tech that this had happened 2-3times before when car was under warranty, but in those instances I waited and managed to start it after 10-15 minutes wait.

Sevice Tech said those are not related?? I wonder how he can be sure of that.

Anyway cost ~$1.4k for replacing Steering Lock.
