Blackvue DR550 and T Power C

Hey guys, I've recently installed these but find that the battery life very disappointing.

Usually the battery will be fully drained in the morning when parking mode was turned on.

Anybody experience such issues?

Yo. Sorry... Forgot to indicate that it's the draining of T Power C, not the car batt.

I thought it'll be better to not touch the car battery, but now it seems that the t power c can't last long.

It detect car voltage. For 24hr recording

If ur battery drop below setting it will cut off camera power.

Tested on my car on 2yr battery old. It still can record 5days. Without engine start

Previously was using the Powermagic. Felt like it's draining my car batt, so I took it out to be sure. Now it seems like the TPower doesn't seem to be better either... alamak... Felt like I've wasted $140...

Is the capacity more than 10,000mAH? My opinion, it takes 6-8 hours to charge such batteries from a normal iphone charger. It may be a case of the battery losing more charge than it can be recharged.

Workshop told me tpower no use. Ur battery will not be charged up enough if you don't drive long . So in the end I tg the power magic.

I emailed wow gadget. They also realized this issue. They told me either change to power magic or buy another battery...

what i did was to buy a dual socket car charger and plug in the t power c and blackvue charger together. so whenever i park i just switch the power plug from blackvue charger to t power c.

 

but even after doing that, t power c still cant last a night, so like you, i also gave up.

 

maybe you can try getting a wall charger and charge it at home and swap the battery every night.

Anyway powermagic also gt it's own problem. Sometimes when I turn on engine, it does not say turn off parking mode but instead say blackvue for your safety. Battery level should not be lower than set so the blackvue should not have turned off.

Powermagic is certainly not perfect. At least mine wasn't. Haha...

I'm on powermagic too. Wow Gadget told me that whenever the car was parked overnight, the cam will shut down when I unlock using remote. I observe this randomly to confirm... both my front and rear cams do shut down when I press the unlock button on my key. To have the cams activated again, the only way is to turn on the ignition.

 

BTW, bro how did you manage to record 5 days w/o running the engine? Mine won't last more than 15hrs when I had 1 cam installed and since I put in the 2nd unit, I don't get beyond 12hrs of recording...

Depends on the voltage setting and stuff. But the variance is a lot on different cars. Anyway now I'm thinking the night recording for 550 sucks. Can't capture license plate number. Wonder if itronics has better images at night. Btw On my 550 image quality is not set to highest. If I set to highest, the recording kept is too short to be useful.

I just installed 550 last week and have the same problem. T power will be flat by morning and the cam will not wake up from parking mode and record. Need to manually unplug power cable from cam and let it restart. Going back to the workshop again on Mon to see any solutions.

similar experience with t power cell.  after doing some research it seems the battery capacity is not sufficient so i am thinking of getting other higher capacity batteries as replacement.  any one out there who have successfully done so?
