Dear VAG members,

A close friend of mine was involved in a fatal accident last Friday, 25th Jan 2013 at the junction of Ang Mo Kio Avenue 6 and Yio Chu Kang Road at around 5.35pm.

She was riding a motorcycle (she usually wears a riding jacket, gloves and full face helmet when she rides, and has over 10 years of riding experience) going straight from AMK Ave 6 towards Lentor Avenue and was very close to home. Lights were in her favour.

A Mercedes Benz (believed to be Maroon) SCM8855T was making a right turn in the opposite direction, not only did the driver not wait in the turning pocket lines, he paused but still dashed through the junction.

My friend could not brake in time and collided with the rear door of the car.

Her helmet box dislodged from her bike and flung towards a vehicle at the opposite junction and broke its windscreen.

She died on the spot. She was 36 years old, and was waiting to receive her degree cert during her graduation ceremony in March.

Her mother and brother were devastated when they went to identify her body at the hospital.

We have since only received 1 in-car video but the view of the entire accident was blocked by vehicles in the front.

The family and myself are appealing for more witnesses to come forward with information as the driver who caused the accident has not been co-operative in investigations.

Although it has been a week from the accident, we are hoping that if more people help to spread the news, the higher the chances of getting witnesses.

Her family now has to grieve because of the inconsiderate actions of others. Your simple gesture of sharing any information you might have, will go a long way and be most appreciated by her family and me.

If you know of anyone who has information, please contact me at [email protected]

Please help spread the word. Thank you.

Walau, another fatal accident... Singapore's road is getting less safer already...

'It’s more than that. It’s a communal celebration of horsepower, torque, grip, leather, technology and beauty. It is the last bastion of automotive lust.'- Jeremy Clarkson

"And if you no longer go for a gap that exist, you are no longer a racing driver because we are competing, we are competing to win. And the main motivation to all of us is to compete for victory, it's not to come 3rd, 4th, 5th or 6th."- The Late and Great Ayrton Senna

Please we have been saying this for many times....Please DRIVE safe! and be careful of smaller things, eg humans, animals and motorcycle.....

The world Most dangerous thing is the Vehicle. Its not about the machine weather its slow or fast. Its the person who is controlling it. The driver is the brain of the Machine. Not the machine itself.

If the driver reacts slow even the most powerful ABS(Auto braking system) will not help. The driver has to give the car the command in Order for the car to react. Afterall he is the brain of the car.

The driver might get a $1200 fine and 3 months driving suspension. That's all.

Motorcycles are inherently dangerous on the road. All motorcycle operators and passengers must acknowledge that fact. Decide what is more important, life or convenience/fun on bike.

There is but one truly serious philosophical problem and that is suicide.

- Albert Camus
