Servicing Mercedes

Thanks for sharing bro.... agree that there will be a diagnosis charge and CnC won't come cheap but I was coming from the angle that the issue problem is causing severe enough issue to get specialist diagnosis... rather from outside layman. Main point being that CnC cannot escape from their diagnosis if it's found to be something else.

But then again this is entirely up to individual owner's preference and also comfort level.

Totally agree with your view bro. :)

Just wondering has anyone here encountered with CnC in a situation whereby they made the wrong diagnosis, changed the parts but problem still comes back and after that, they did another diagnosis and asked you to change another part. How was it settled? Did they refund or credit back the labor and parts charges for the wrong diagnosis to offset the parts and labor for the correct diagnosis in the end? Or how was this kind of issue settled? Appreciate any insight.

IIRC for my 60k servicing, I opted for sending the car to C&C for the servicing without changing any of the wear and tear parts. I then went to Golden Link Auto for parts and Autospritz to install said parts.

All in all I paid about 1.1k to C&C, parts was about 800 and Autospritz about 200 for labor... Saved a bit considering C&C quoted me about 1.5k for the servicing without batteries, wipers, filter etc. Also must consider that the C&C parts are exorbitantly priced...

Downside is that I got to spend about 3 days to get all things done partly due to my busy schedule. 2 days for servicing, another 2 half days to get the parts and get it installed.

will post my receipts if I can find them. :)

Just for comparison sake bro, I did my 60k at chip soon and paid total $1036.83 including GST. $969 before GST. Job was finished in less than 4 hours. Didn't want to go back cnc not only due to their horrible services and much higher pricing, but also the fact that they want me to leave the car overnight which means 2 days downtime as they got too many jobs to clear before CNY.

During then, I've also gotten quote from Autospritz at $1.1K before GST, for both buying parts and labor from them. In the end went with chip soon as it was strongly recommended by a bro here. Maybe next servicing you might like to consider getting parts and labor directly from Autospritz to save the hassle of running the trips since dollar saving is not much though I would imagine one can surely learn a great deal from this experience on how the various parts look like and what were done for this major servicing.

Depends bro.... if your mileage is before 60k km or your car is less than 3 years then its still under warranty but the servicing which includes parts n labour will still require payments for relevant portions. U can request for change of engine mounting though as its covered under the warranty

I can never understand why the engine and gear box mountings on the Mercedes do not last.

I wonder if BMWs or Audis have this problem? I have changed mine 3 times already. 110'000 km to-date.

With regard to ONLY engine and gearbox mountings... cannot comment on other BMW models but only on e model (E82 135 Coupe) i previously owned.

Serviced entirely with AD, 7.5yrs with mileage at 130,000km, didn't change any gearbox mounting or gearbox oil. Engine mounting changed once.

Hi seniors,

How do i know when is time to change the mountings?

If your car still within warranty period and by C&C then you can go ahead to claim a new set. or

Hold the steering wheel and feel it. (Gear in 'P' position)

Hi Bros,

I am driving a w205 from PI. The warranty workshop insisted that I return for 1k, 10k, 20k service. My neighbor had a w205 from CnC. They only service their car at 15k.

Why such disparity? Any idea what Daimler say about the service interval?

You can check the service manual via https://www.mbusa.com/mercedes/service_and_parts/maintenance_manuals

Should be 15k which is about 10k miles to change engine oil.

There are some who will change 1st engine oil at 1k. I changed my at 3k.

If ur warranty workshop is flexible then u can do servicing at your own preference. Unless they are strict for warranty purpose.

Strongly suggest that u follow the PI requirement. Any breach in this requirement will void the car's warranty. In any case, there's no harm doing these service & it's not that expensive...in fact it's better for the engine.

I was told to utilize service credits wisely. For regular servicing, it'd be good to send the vehicle back to the Authorised Dealer for thorough diagnostics. Where parts change is concerned, as long as these arent warrantied for, external trusty workshops come in handy to replace worn parts flagged in the diagnostics..

I have a stash of Engine Oil from my previous ride and was wondering if its all worth the trouble to BYO oil to the MB AD.

Saw in an earlier post, does anyone have more experience to share?

Thank you

Doubt can use own EO for servicing at AD. True. Parts that can be changed outside or DIY also can. I change my own intake filter. :)

Your rite. The service center at Eunos/Ubi just rang back on my question - BYO Engine Oil is not possible but there is an option between Helix and Mobil1 supplied by the AD already discussed before.

I tried both EO at AD and dun feel any diff so bros might just want to go for shell which is cheaper I think.
