ECU Piggyback on MB Cars

Guest cylee

Recommended Posts

Hi All,

just going to take order of my new MB from C&C next week. Wanted to some feedback from the bros here on how C&C handle car tuning - say Brabus piggyback ECU and others. Any warranty got void due to this?

My previous ride is Audi and was MTMed tuned, so no warranty problems from Premium Auto.

cheers.

Thanks for the quick response. .. Was reading it earlier.

Doea it means C&C will honor the warranty or i will need to remove it before any servicing? or they still can tell?

Well in my case the workshop I installed it at said they would never find it. However CnC found it n happily took photos and voided my warranty. So I would suggest to take it out before sending it in. Well if u wanna modify your car then can't worry about warranty bro :)

the "piggyback" as the names suggests, is something that you can attach/remove at your own will... when attached, your ECU reads the codes that are written into the piggyback and the car responds accordingly to those new codes... when the piggyback is removed, your ECU reads the stock codes that your car came originally programmed with...

if you have a piggyback attached, best to remove it before going for servicing at C&C (assuming that your ride is from the authorised agent) so that your warranty will not be void...

i think any signals to the ecu the car ecu will have record log. therefore c&c still be able to viod your warranty.. depends on the one accessing your vehicle.

May not. I understand that the tuning box just changes the signals to the ECU, for example, if the turbo is giving 0.5 bar, the tuning box will send a signal saying it is only giving 0.3 bar. Therefore, the ECU will push it up to what it thinks is 0.5 bar which in reality is 0.7 bar. Therefore, there should not be any record. C&C has not made any comments to me yet and I have claimed some warranty items since.

thanks pacman for sharing that you have made claims, more assuring that we have a bro who has experienced it.

By the way along the same topic, I was reading the warranty in the contract, it states that warranty will be excluded where there is breakdown or damage due to use of parts not recommneded/manufactured/sold by the Original Manufacturer. Therefore if one is to install a piggy, and there is no breakdown or damage, C&C should have no business voiding our warranty. cannot happy happy take picture and say void.

Correct, my claims were unrelated, namely water entered wing mirror. Change casing. Shocks a bit soft, Change front absorbers. However, if I changed non-Mercedes rims, they may void shocks or wheel bearings warranty as they are somewhat related.

Can I ask whether the tuning packages offered by the site sponsors like ecutech tuning, carlsson cgi performance tuning etc, are they ecu piggy back? I want to get piggy back after hearing all the discussion but blur like sotong about what they really are. Think I will look damn stupid if I go around asking if you sell piggy back or not. Please save me from the embarrassment. Thank you.
