Congrats, very envious of you. :thumbsu: Lots of knowledge on this site. When I got my car, I went through each and every sub forum of the site.. LOL. Just don't get poisoned too soon, enjoy the stock car as much as you can first.

Poison spreads fast!

Hi Guys,

Thank you for the good wishes and welcomes!

Sorry for the late reply ... Actually i think it might not be 2 weeks ... but if it crosses to ghost month I might want to wait for another month.

Had lots of problems with my two year old "CGI 7tronic E200 -1.8L engine model" purchased directly from C&C at $251K.

C&C offered me $168K as a trade in. They loan me a E200 Elegance 2.0L- 2014 model as my car was in the workshop for quite a while and have been driving it for about 3 weeks.

Not sure if it is worthwhile to trade in to a New "CGI E250-2.0L engine model" as depreciation is quite heavy.

Also not sure if 10k more to change to avantgrade is worth it.

Can anyone give me an opinion.

Cheers and much appreciated.

A quick calculation shows that you "lose" $83K over 2 years. That's a massive depreciation of $41.5K a yr!

However, a check on sgcarmart shows E200 with < 2yr selling at $170K and above, so the trade in price is about right.

The actual cost to you though, should be the trade in amount ($168K) minus how much you have paid for the car (downpayment + monthly loan) plus how much you have to top up for the new model ($10K?). So you need to determine whether this amount is worth the change.

If it is about $20K per year or lower, then I think it is worth it. Hope I am making sense :).

Care to share what are the problems?

The major problem is the transmission amongst other issues. Seems that the tuning is not consistent. Been to C&C on several occasions to rectify this issue but each and every time they have informed me that it was within specs. Recently, they did a software update and car performed well. However, after 2 weeks the problem started again and then an "Red alert symbol" appeared on the dashboard.

Yes, agreed it is massive depreciation for driving about 2yrs.

Problem is I don't really have an alternative as my car performance is really really poor and I have totally lost confidence.

I heard 7G is more problematic than the 5 speed.

Tell you a joke, I was at the service centre and I asked the SA "my car 5sp better or 7G better?"  He replied "your car 6 speed, Merc no 5 speed".  I swear I almost fainted.  I found out he is not a newbie some more.  I wonder how to trust him to do my car.

You are spot on. Gone are the days when you have knowlegeable SA's.

These SA are all now very mechanical. Probably too many Merz cars on the road for them to service. Seems like the CGI series has quite a bit of electronical problems.

C n C should provide all SA an old Merc as company car. I can't understand how they can appreciate customer's problem when they don't even drive the car model.

On one visit to the service centre, I told the SA I want the transmission fluid changed because my car is 3.5 yr old though mileage is only 41K. The SA (after checking his computer) said the ATF is changed at 60K. I was like  :startle:  … told him that the service booklet stated in black and white that ATF for my model has to change every 3 yr or 50K mileage.

Haha… no lah, mine is a used car, and I experienced slight transmission jerking, so I just wanted to play safe and change.

Tested the E250 Avantgarde Model last week.

Understand that upgrade from E250 Elegance to E250 Avantgrade, there is a 10K price difference.

You get different Front grills, 3 spook steering wheel, Tyres are 245/40/18 & 265/40/18, Intelligent lights & Suspension should be about 1.5cm lower.

After paying so much for this car, I would go for the Avantgrade if I could afford it too.
